Update: Yum Yum Donuts on El Cajon Blvd. Target of Robbery for 4th Time

A man with a gun made off with an undisclosed amount of cash in Saturday afternoon robbery.

Police were searching Saturday for a man who robbed a doughnut shop on El Cajon Boulevard at gunpoint.

The robber entered on 7550 El Cajon Blvd. about 3:44 p.m., displayed a black handgun and demanded cash from a clerk, according to La Mesa police.

It was the fourth robbery or robbery attempt of this shop in 15 months. In November 2010, a teen suspect was arrested after attempting to rob the La Mesa doughnut store again. And in February 2011, two men robbed Yum Yum Donuts at gunpoint early on a Tuesday morning.

In Saturday’s incident, the clerk handed over an undisclosed amount of cash and the man fled the store on foot, last seen headed east toward Comanche Drive, according to police.

Despite assistance from a San Diego sheriff’s helicopter, the robber got away.

Police described the robber as a white male in his 30s wearing a brown and tan hat with an unknown logo on the front, a brown zip-up sweatshirt and blue pants. The suspect had a small moustache and short hair, according to police.
