7-Eleven on Palm Ave. Robbed Early Mother’s Day; Store Frequent Target

Along with the bandana, the heavy male robber was wearing a gray coat and dark pants, police say.

A man in a red bandana but not showing any weapon robbed the 7-Eleven store on Palm Avenue early Sunday, La Mesa police report.

The same outlet was robbed twice in 24 hours in early February and

Sgt. Steve Osmers said the store at 4253 Palm was staffed by a lone clerk when the robber entered the store a little after 3:30 a.m. Sunday.

“The man demanded cash, but never made any threats with a weapon and no weapon was seen,” Osmers said. “The clerk gave the suspect cash from the register.  The man left the business on foot, going north toward Echo Drive.”

The robber may have entered a car that drove away east on Echo or he left on foot.

“The clerk activated a silent robbery alarm at the start of the robbery, but the suspect was gone by the time La Mesa police officers arrived (within two minutes),” Osmers said. 

Police searched the area, he said, but did not find the man. The cash loss was not immediately known.

The suspect was described as a white or Hispanic adult male, unknown age, 6 feet tall and weighing about 210 pounds. He was bald with a light complexion.  Along with the bandana, the suspect was wearing a gray coat and dark pants.
