7-Eleven on Amaya Drive in La Mesa Robbed at Gunpoint

The suspect is described as a white male, 25-40 years old, 5'6" to 5'8" tall, wearing a dark blue "hoodie" sweatshirt and dark blue jeans. The suspect was also described as either carrying or wearing a dark blue scarf.

A suspect armed with a handgun robbed a 7-11 located  in La Mesa, police said Friday morning.

Early Friday morning, at about 4:08AM, the La Mesa Police Department received a report of a robbery that had just occurred at the 7-11 located at 5746 Amaya Drive.

An employee reported that the suspect entered the store, approached the counter and pointed a handgun at the clerk. The suspect then announced that he was robbing the store and demanded cash.

The clerk gave the suspect money from the register. The suspect fled northbound on Howell Drive on foot. The employee was not injured, according to police.

In April 2011, a clerk at the same 7-Eleven was injured in a scuffle with a customer, when the customer apparently tried to walk out without paying for cigarettes.
