Heat, Humidity Finally Arrive in La Mesa in August

After an unseasonably mild start to summer, conditions across the county by mid August became more summer-like due to dominant high pressure and an influx of monsoonal moisture streaming north from Mexico. Though no precipitation has yet been formally recorded in La Mesa as an effect of late-afternoon dissipating thunderstorms in eastern mountains, daytime humidity levels have been uncomfortably high. Conditions are not expected to change drastically into the first week of September with daytime high temperatures remaining in the upper 80s to low 90s with still-elevated humidity.
