Late-August summertime heat and humidity continued through the first half of September, with no records being surpassed. Autumn's arrival on the 22nd became noticeable as temperatures began to wane and conditions gradually became more comfortable, with overnight lows reaching the mid 50s.
Mild Indian-summer conditions with warm Santa Ana winds (blowing west over the deserts) are possible during the first week of October, bringing with them a heightened awareness of fire potential.
