Tips for avoiding cyber security threats this holiday season

More and more businesses today are embracing BYOD. Short for Bring Your Own Device, BYOD refers to employees bringing personally-owned mobile devices, including smartphones, tablets and laptops, to their places of work, and using those devices to access privileged company resources.  In fact:

  • 88% of executives report employees using their personal computing technologies for business purposes today
  • 62% of executives say they now have, or plan to have, a BYOD program for smartphones and tablets

While there are many benefits to the BYOD trend, below are three tips for businesses to implement this holiday season to ensure safe and secure BYOD practices on new tech gadgets:

  1. Only procure genuine apps and software from reputable sources
  2. Don’t lend your device to others, because you run the risk of compromising its integrity
  3. To make sure you’re safe online and protecting your privacy, please visit: http://www.microsoft.com/security/default.aspx
