Vaida Jones Helland—whose family moved to La Mesa in 1938 and later was active in PTA and local Kiwanis—died March 19, according to a U-T San Diego obituary.
She was 93.
“Returning to La Mesa after [World War II, she and her husband], started a business and raised their family next door to Vaida’s parents. Although Vaida worked at home, she was very active as a member and often a leader in the PTA, the Presbyterian Church, the Kiwaniannes, the thrift shop, the church choir and other service groups,” the obituary said.
A memorial is set for 11 a.m. Saturday, March 24, at Belmont Village, 13075 Evening Creek Dr., San Diego.
