Robert Eugene Sandlin—who graduated Grossmont High School, before becoming an audiologist—died May 4, according to a U-T San Diego obituary.

He was 85.

"After graduating from Grossmont High School in 1944 he served in World War II aboard the USS Eldorado. He later earned a B.A. from SDSU, and a Ph.D. from Wayne State University (with a few years in between spent in Europe working for the State Department and generally bumming about). His distinguished career in audiology spanned a period of over 50 years, during which he lectured and published extensively, both nationally and internationally," the obituary said.
