Thousands of Religious Leaders/Congregations to Gather Nationwide Against HHS Mandate

"It is not by accident that religious liberty is the FIRST amendment. Without strong push-back it could become a "former" freedom." Jim Garlow, Senior Pastor at Skyline Church

This year in January, the federal government launched one of the most outrageous attacks on religious freedom in our nation's history: the "Health and Human Service (HHS) Mandate." This mandate, implemented under Obamacare, forces employers - including the Catholic Church and religious charities - to provide free contraceptives and abortion-inducing drugs in their health plans, against their religious beliefs and moral conscience.

"In 2008 approximately 53% of the estimated 70 million Catholics in the United States voted for President Obama, who then implemented a mandate within obamacare assaulting the religious freedom of the very Catholics who voted for him.  The HHS Mandate requires the catholic church to violate its religious beliefs by providing contraception to its insured. This is a clear violation of religious freedom and our first amendment rights. This is why we are coming together as one church on Saturday. We are all Catholic now. We must stand together ecumenically and overturn the HHS mandate. " Said Mary Moran, Rally Organizer

"The US Catholic Bishops have been on record as favoring some sort of national health care, since the Eisenhower Administration.  The current Administration created a health care plan that has abortion all through it, instead of creating a health plan that the Catholic bishops could have supported enthusiastically.  The only logical conclusion is that the current Administration cares more about abortion than about health care." Said Jennifer Roback Morse, Ph.D.

"The Obama Administration has continued its attack on our cherished religious freedom in a multitude of ways.  The latest and most blatant assault on our liberty is the HHS Mandate.  This pernicious law seeks to force many Americans to violate their consciences by paying for products and services to which they have moral objections.  As a result, over 30 lawsuits have been filed by more than 100 plaintiffs.  This is an heroic response by persons of conscience in the United States to an unprecedented act of governmental tyranny.  If we are not willing to defend our rights against such naked aggression, then we will surely lose them.  Therefore, all  freedom loving Americans need to rally together so that our voices will be heard at this crucial time in our nation’s history." Said Attorney Charles LiMandri, Founder of the Freedom of Conscience Defense Fund

"In the last Presidential Debate, President Obama mentioned funding Planned Parenthood four times. He seems to be obsessed with continuing to force Americans to pay for killing children in the womb with our tax dollars. Abortion is child murder and is not healthcare. Citizens like us shouldn’t have to be forced to pay for it.  This is an attack on our religious freedom.” Said Deacon Keith Esshaki, St Peters Chaldean Cathedral.

“There are two locomotives on the same track coming towards each other, at top speed. One is religious liberty. The other is the secularist agenda. People on both sides of the issue know that both religious liberty and the secularist agenda cannot exist in the same nation at the same time. One will win. One will lose. Our religious liberties are at stake.”  Said Dr. Jim Garlow, Senior Pastor of Skyline Church in Rancho San Diego, and Chairman of Renewing American Leadership based in Washington.
