Religious Leaders and Congregations gather Oct 20 for 'Stand Up For Religious Freedom'

What is the single most important issue before American voters in this critical election year? For people of faith, one issue stands above all others: RELIGIOUS FREEDOM.

On Saturday October 20, over 150 cities across the country will participate in the Stand Up For Religious Freedom rally opposing the Health and Human Services contraception mandate which organizers feel is a direct assault on religious freedom and constitutional rights.

This year in January, the federal government launched one of the most outrageous attacks on religious freedom in our nation's history: the "Health and Human Service (HHS) Mandate." This mandate, implemented under Obamacare, forces employers - including religious charities - to provide free contraceptives and abortion-inducing drugs in their health plans, in violation of their religious beliefs and moral conscience.

“This is probably the first time in history that any Presidential Administration has
sought to use brute force to compel its citizens to violate their conscience or
moral convictions. It is basically an unheard of act of tyranny. It is also
antithetical to the core American principles of religious liberty and freedom
from compelled speech. In representing the Priests for Life, the largest
Catholic pro-life organization in the nation, we intend to fight this
unconstitutional violation of our rights all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court,
where we are confident that we will ultimately prevail on behalf of all
Americans.” Said Prominent San Diego attorney Charles Limandri, Founder
of Freedom of Conscience Defense Fund, who has been retained by international
Priests for Life to represent them in their lawsuit against the Obama
Administration over the contraceptive mandate.

“There are two locomotives on the same track coming towards each other, at top speed. One is religious liberty. The other is the secularist agenda. People on both sides of the issue know that both religious liberty and the secularist agenda cannot exist in the same nation at the same time. One will win. One will lose. Our religious liberties are at stake.”  Said Dr. Jim Garlow, Senior Pastor of Skyline Church in Rancho San Diego, and Chairman of Renewing American Leadership based in Washington, DC.

“As people of faith, it is our responsibility to keep religious freedom on
voters' minds. Where religious liberties are concerned, the government has no
right imposing itself upon the governed, especially for a religion to violate
its own moral conscience. That's why we're inviting folks to join us for the Stand Up for Religious Freedom Rally on October 20. We are encouraging people of faith to come stand in defense of their Church and their constitutional rights.” Said rally organizer Mary Moran
