Devastation in Joplin

Here are a few pictures from around the hospital area. Joplin at its worse.

Editor's Note: Spring Valley residents Dave and Marie Kent are driving an RV to Joplin, Missouri to help in the relief effort after the devastating tornado. Their trip is being sponsored by the various local civic organizations. They will be blogging about their trip on Mount Helix Patch.

Saturday evening and what a harrowing experience we've had today . We managed to register as volunteers. helped put together wheel barrows. But first priority was to find a location to call home.  We drove through the devastated area and it is unimaginable.  Took one unbelievable picture after another.

We drove by Dave's friend's home, (we couldn't locate them) the house is standing but mostly in shambles with a big red X on it, that says it is not habitable.  Cars were smashed so bad one could not tell what make it had been.   Drove by a school, there was no playground left and windows shattered.  Thank God this happened at night.

We bring with us donations from Bright Hope Community Church, Spring Valley Lions Club and the San Diego District Lions and many friends that wanted to be a part of this.

There is such a need here but where does one start?
