Photos: Special Soccer Players Compete in 'Kick or Treat' Tournament

La Mesa AYSO sends VIP teams to soccer tournament for special needs children.

The second annual Kick or Treat soccer tournament was held this past Sunday at Kennedy Park in El Cajon.  It is unique as the only local soccer tournament for special needs children in San Diego.

The teams come from the AYSO (American Youth Soccer Organization) VIP program.  La Mesa AYSO is one of the East County regions with an active multi-team VIP program.  Gary Hartnett has been the La Mesa AYSO coordinator for the VIP program for several years and has stated that this is truly one of the most rewarding activities in which he has ever participated.

Teams played morning and afternoon matches, enjoyed a complimentary lunch, and had their choice of Halloween themed carnival games and activities.

All players received an award.  Players could wear their uniforms or a costume, with many parents and referees also joining in the Halloween costume spirit.
