La Mesa AYSO Hosts Mt. Helix Classic Soccer Tournament

A total of 38 teams from La Mesa and neighboring regions competed in the Mt. Helix Classic Labor Day Soccer Tournament, held at both Spring Valley and La Mesa Middle Schools.

Junior Abby Wambach’s, Lionel Messi’s, and Alex Morgan’s took to the field recently for La Mesa AYSO’s Mt. Helix Labor Day Classic soccer tournament.

A total of 38 teams from La Mesa and neighboring regions competed for pre season experience, fun, and the chance for a champion’s medal.  The teams featured players ranging in age from 8 to 13.   The games were played at Spring Valley and La Mesa Middle Schools and the event was made possible by a dedicated group of parent and community volunteers.

The competition was sometimes fierce and always in the spirit of fun with every game ending in mutual team high fives to show good sportsmanship.
