i see this every year concerning fried turkeys. i've been frying turkeys for the last 15 years or so. yes....its important to totally thaw the bird before dropping it into the oil. but, the most important thing (and, what they left out here) is to TURN OFF THE FLAME BEFORE YOU PUT THE TURKEY INTO THE FRYER!!!!! if you do this, and the oil overflows.....no fire. that is the most important thing about frying a turkey (or anything else). turn off the flame before dropping something into the oil. not rocket science......but, this is always left out of the warning for some reason.
