The Helix Water District will celebrate its 100-year history at its Nov. 6 board of directors meeting. Residents are invited to the celebration, which includes a video and PowerPoint presentation on the district's history, and historic photos on display in the administration office lobby. Cake and chocolates will be served, and souvenir pens will be distributed.

The public district formed as the La Mesa, Lemon Grove, Spring Valley Irrigation District by a vote Nov. 1, 1913. The vote was 397 in favor, and 3 opposed.

The centennial celebration will take place at 5 p.m. Nov. 6 in the district's administrative office, 7811 University Ave., La Mesa.
