Fire Prevention Week: Open House at Fire Station 11

See the engines up close, let the kids try on firefighting gear, and meet the crew at Fire Station 11 during the annual Heartland Fire & Rescue open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12.

This year's theme is "Prevent Kitchen Fires," and  officials will be teaching valuable fire safety lessons that could save a life. There will be plenty of fun, free activities for children including coloring and practicing "stop, drop and roll."

A safety fair features vendor booths with handout information for children, adults and seniors.

Bring your camera for photo ops throughout the day.
