A Night of Song to Warm the Heart: Christmas Eve at UCCLM

Writer Bess Streeter Aldrich described one Christmas Eve as
“…a night of song that wrapped itself about you like a shawl.  But it warmed more than your body.  It warmed your heart…filled it, too, with
melody that would last forever.”

So will it be this year at the United Church of Christ of La
Mesa (UCCLM)’s candle-lit Christmas Eve
Service of Lessons and Carols
.  From
“O Come, All Ye Faithful” through “Angels We Have Heard on High” and “Silent
Night,” the music of the season will fill the halls, an ancient yet ever new
serenade to God.  Readings from Genesis,
Isaiah, Luke and John will complement the music, telling again the story of the
Child of Bethlehem and the fulfilment of God’s promise to the world.

As another writer, Adele Comandini, once said, “There are no
strangers on Christmas Eve.”    We invite
you to share the evening with us, to enjoy the warmth and welcome of our church
family, to sing and celebrate the wonder of the season with us.  The service will be in the Sanctuary at
7:00pm, December 24, 2013.
