CHRISTMAS TEA AT THE AUBREY ROSE TEA ROOM
- What's up: Enjoy afternoon tea with a touch of holiday spirit. The Aubrey Rose Tea Room will create special menus centered around Christmas.
- When: From now until Jan. 5. Visit their website for detailed tea times.
- Where: The Aubrey Rose Tea Room, 8362 La Mesa Boulevard, La Mesa.
- Price: Christmas menus range from $13.95 to $30.95.
- What's up: Help plant a tree, spread mulch and maintain Mission Trails' beauty.
- When: Saturday, Dec. 1 at 9 a.m.
- Where: Kumeyaay Lake Campground Day Use Parking Lot, 2 Father Junipero Serra Trail, San Diego.
- Price: Donations are accepted for the Tree and Habitat Maintenance Fund for the park or donations of $100 per tree.
- What's up: The annual food drive hopes to stop hunger all over San Diego county. Buses will be located at 15 Albertsons including La Mesa, Santee, and Lemon Grove. Help fill the buses with non-perishiable food items and stop by one of the east county locations.
- When: Saturday, Dec. 1 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Where: La Mesa at 8920 Fletcher Parkway. In Santee at 9870 North Magnolia Avenue. Or in Lemon Grove at 7090 Broadway.
HOLIDAY EVENTS AT GROSSMONT CENTER
- What's up: Holiday events include live holiday musical performances will be at the Christmas Tree, cookie decorating with Santa, prize giveaways, prize giveaways and more.
- When: Saturday, Dec. 1 and Sunday, Dec. 2 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
- Where: Grossmont Center, 5500 Grossmont Center Drive, La Mesa.
- Price: Free.
- What's up: Drive over to the neighboring town of Lakeside for an afternoon of holiday spirit. The day will include bouncy toys, food, drink, activities for kids, performances, Santa, and more!
- When: Saturday, Dec. 1 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.
- Where: On Maine Avenue, Lakeside.
- Price: Free.
KIWANIS KID'S FISHING DAY
- What's up: Free fishing permit for registered participants in grades 3 - 8. Normal parking/entrance/fishing fees apply. Participants will require their own rod, reel, hooks, and tackle. Bait will be provided on-site. Lots of prizes for the kids!
- When: Saturday, Dec. 1 starting at 7 a.m.
- Where: Santee Lakes
- Price: Free.
