Warming Through Thursday, Then Cooler for Weekend

Observed conditions for Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2011, from La Mesa Mesonet station. Forecast data from National Weather Service.

Over the next several days, higher pressure will bring warmer weather with a less extensive marine layer. However, a low-pressure trough will develop along the west coast Friday through the weekend bringing cooler weather and more coastal clouds. Warmer weather will return next week as high pressure rebuilds over the southwest.

Wednesday forecast: Morning clouds and patchy fog clearing to sunny with a daytime high near 85. Calm wind becoming west between 5 and 10 mph. Increasing cloudiness overnight with late patchy fog and a low around 65. West wind around 5 mph becoming calm.

Thursday forecast: Morning clouds and patchy fog clearing to sunny with a daytime high near 87. Calm wind becoming west between 5 and 10 mph. Increasing cloudiness overnight with late patchy fog and a low around 62. West wind around 5 mph becoming calm.

Extended forecast: Morning clouds and patchy fog Friday clearing to sunny with a daytime high near 84 and an overnight low around 62 under increasing cloudiness. Cloudy through mid morning Saturday, then gradual clearing with a daytime high near 77 and an overnight low around 60 under increasing cloudiness.

Tuesday conditions: Morning clouds and fog clearing to sunny with a daytime high of 83. Wind mainly from the northwest between 5 and 10 mph. Increasing cloudiness overnight with late patchy fog and a low around 62. West wind between 5 and 10 mph becoming calm.
