Two Arrested After Armed Robberies

Two street robberies were reported early Saturday morning.

Two suspects are in custody after two men were robbed at gunpoint just after midnight in the 500 block of Osage Street, according to the San Diego Sheriff’s Department.

At 12:21 a.m. the men were robbed by a suspect armed with a black handgun who hit and pistol whipped one of the victims, according to Sgt. Chris Davis. The suspect fled in a red, two-door Honda driven by the second suspect. The injured victim declined medical treatment, Davis said.

Around eight minutes later, a female was robbed at gunpoint in Bonita by a suspect that matched the description in the Osage Street robbery. According to Davis, a deputy spotted the suspect vehicle within five minutes of the second robbery and stopped it at Worthington Street and Paradise Valley Road.

The driver of the vehicle, Herman Jones, 26, was taken into custody, according to Davis. The second suspect, Omar Abdulle, 19, fled on foot to a nearby residential neighborhood, where he was located hiding under a home. A San Diego police helicopter assisted in the search.

After the suspects were apprehended, they were identified by the victims and stolen property and evidence was recovered, according to Davis. Jones and Abdulle were charged with three counts of armed robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery, and Abdulle was charged with one count of burglary. They were booked into San Diego Central Jail.
