Details have begun to emerge about the May 5 shooting incident on a freeway in La Mesa that left one man dead. Xusha Brown, Jr. 21, died after being shot in the head by unknown suspect(s) in another car.

A member of the Sycuan Nation, the Native American group is offering $50,000 in reward money to anyone who can provide La Mesa police with information that leads to an arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for Brown's death.

Update: Shooting on I-8 Sends Two Men to Grossmont Hospital

 

La Mesa police sergeant Bret Richards was injured and taken to the hospital last week when when a stolen car, abandoned by a fleeing man, rolled into him early Wednesday and knocked him onto its trunk. Richards escaped serious injury but did have several scrapes and bruises.

A pair of ATM armed robberies occurred last week within one hour of each other in La Mesa – one at Grossmont Center and the other on Lake Murray Blvd. Police do not yet know if they are connected.
