New Seasons Church, located at 2300 Bancroft Drive in Spring Valley, will host its annual "Seasons of Love" Community Block Party service event on Saturday, Nov. 17.

The event serves as a turkey giveaway, clothing drive, and food bank, and helps serve more than 2,000 local families in need of a helping hand. More than 5,000 people are expected to attend.

The event will also feature live music, children’s entertainment and a free lunch for attendees. In addition, local nonprofits will host a resource fair with information on community resources available to those in need.

The event will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

New Seasons Church serves families from a diverse, low-income neighborhood surrounding the church that have been badly affected by the economic crisis. The church and its community partners are helping connect the local community with resources that families may not be aware of such as Food Stamp pre-screening, WIC program information, Health Net, and HIV STD Testing.

The church also hosts regular food distributions for the San Diego Food Bank and Feeding America San Diego.
