Small-Stream Flood Advisory for La Mesa Extended to 8:15 p.m.

National Weather Service warns of street and pond flooding.

With rain still falling in La Mesa, starting a little after noon,  the National Weather Service in San Diego has extended its urban and small stream flood advisory for the city and neighboring areas. The advisory lasts until 8:15 p.m.

The weather service says moderate to heavy showers were over southern Orange County and  Southern San Diego County. These fast-moving storms will also produce brief heavy downpours and local street flooding through 8:15 p.m.

"Local rainfall rates of one-quarter to one-hour inch per hour were occurring," says the weather service. "Rainfall will continue to move northwest at 30 mph through late afternoon and will bring local flooding—especially to streets and freeways in low lying areas."
