Skyline Murder-Suicide, an FBI Raid, and Grossmont Softball Wins CIF Title

At Mount Helix Patch, we know that in your busy lives there may be some stories that you can't read about the day they happen. With the "Week That Was" column, we'll provide a roundup of the most important stories of the week.

In the most tragic story of the week, we learned last Tuesday of a Skyline-area family that was found dead at their home. It was initially believed that the family of four all allegedly drowned, but further investigation revealed the case to be a murder suicide.

A day later, police found evidence that they believe that Alfredo and Georgina Pimienta planned for their own deaths, and those of their children, Priscilla, 17, and Emily, 7.

Sharlotte Hydorn, the El Cajon grandmother who has garnered national attention for her home business which sells "suicide kits," had her house raided by the FBI on Wednesday.

A program that encourages parents to talk to their kids for 25 minutes about staying safe was offered at the Rancho San Diego Library. More than 200 parents and kids came out to get information and receive child ID kits, including fingerprints.

Diana Lazo, a senior at Monte Vista who is planning to attend UCLA to study biology, won the prestigious Gates Millennium Scholarship, which will pay for her education from undergraduate to doctorate programs.

The Grossmont High girls softball team came back from losing to Poway a couple days earlier, and beat the Titans in the finals to claim the CIF Softball Championship. Congrats to the Foothillers.
