Power Shut Off, Restored in Mount Helix, Spring Valley Wednesday Morning

SDG&E has notified some customers in the county that power outages may occur or power could be shut off for safety. Several outages are reported.

San Diego Gas and Electric notified customers in some areas by telephone Tuesday night that their power could go out today due to high winds.

"We encouraged customers to prepare with flashlights, extra batteries and a phone that doesn't require electricity," said spokeswoman April Bolduc on Wednesday. "We've staged crews throughout the areas of highest winds, and of course that changes throughout the day."

Bolduc said that because the National Weather Service has re-evaluated the winds and they are not expected to go over 50 mph, the conditions are not expected to exceed the design limits of SDG&E's overhead electricity system.
