La Mesa Woman Testifies in Rape Case, and the 'Absurd' PBID Process

A judge ruled last week that Blue and Gold Baseball, a nonprofit founded by former Grossmont baseball coach Jim Earley, is not a booster club, and therefore not subject to public financial records disclosure. Dan Nesovic, had for months been filing civil suits attempting to see the groups finances, after his claims that money had been misappropriated from the snack bar funds.

Expressing frustration that is mounting due to a perceived lack of transparency, councilmember Kristine Alessio called the PBID process "absurd," at the last council meeting. Her colleague on the council, Ernie Ewin, made a motion to require the PBID formation committee to come back in 6 weeks with hard, specific data about where they are in the petition phase. The motion was approved unanimously.

A La Mesa woman, identified as "K.K." in court, testified in a preliminary hearing last week that she was raped by a man she met on Christianmingle.com. Sean Patrick Banks of Del Mar faces 44 years to life in prison if convicted of all charges.
