La Mesa Middle's Paloma Carillo Is a Modern Renaissance Girl

At 13, Paloma Carillo already knows the meaning of an "A," the value of a dollar and how to help others who are less fortunate.

Name:  Paloma Carillo, 13

School:  La Mesa Middle School

Accomplishment:  This amazing student is being recognized as an academic achiever, an actor and for her unselfish donation of time to others. 

Key to awesomeness:  Paloma is an outstanding student who’s often on the honor roll and Nobles list at school. That means she scores a GPA of 3.5 or higher and has outstanding citizenship.  She was also selected to be a school leader on staff for the 2010-11 yearbook and has helped design, take photos and draw artwork for the annual.

Paloma was in the cast of this year’s Peter Pan Junior Theater and baked cookies to help raise funds for the play, making $100 toward the production of The Music Man.  She is also a member of the Invisible Children Club and has helped raise over $750 for children in Uganda. She also helped her father fill boxes for the San Diego Food Bank over the holidays. She is an amazing young lady.
