Fueled by a lack of information and confusion, East County families were upset last week at the proposed attendance boundary changes for schools in the Grossmont Union High School District. Parents packed the board meeting last week, where it was decided that the boundaries would not change at this time.

Lemon Grove City Council member and La Mesa Chamber of Commerce President Mary England announced last week that she is seeking an assembly seat for the newly formed 79th District, which covers La Mesa, Lemon Grove and parts of Spring Valley, as well as areas of San Diego and Chula Vista, including Bonita and Otay.

A brawl between neighbors turned deadly last week when a man was found dead in a driveway on South Cordoba Avenue. John Guy Durham, 55, was arrested and is being held in custody on suspicion of the murder in the death of Jay Newman.

The Young Actors' Theatre is at it again with their latest production of "Legally Blonde: The Musical." The show runs through Sunday, Jan. 22.
