Expect a Cold, Wet and Windy Week

The first of two late-season storms hit the region Tuesday morning.

Is Mother Nature playing games—or is it just too easy to forget about San Diego’s famed “May Gray?”

Whatever natural forces are afoot, the first of two late-season storms hit the county Tuesday morning bringing cold, wet and windy weather.

Temperatures are expected to be 5° to 15° F below normal along the coast and in the inland valleys, and 20 to 30 degrees below normal in the mountains and deserts, according to the National Weather Service.

The agency has also advised that strong gusty southwest to west winds were in store for the mountains and deserts through Tuesday evening.

Expect the second storm to arrive midweek. The weather service says it will bring even stronger, more widespread southwest to west winds on Wednesday.

Rainfall totals from the two storms will range between a quarter-inch to an inch, according to the weather service.
