Downed Trees Possible With Strong Winds, Rain on the Way

San Diego County will see heavy rain and strong winds.

Spring will make a stormy arrival Sunday, with forecasters predicting gale-force winds, rain and snow in the mountains.

Rain is expected to develop late Sunday and continue through Monday morning, bringing an inch or more to the coastal region and up to 2 feet to the mountains above 5,000 feet, says the National Weather Service.

Winds out of the south will increase to about 35 mph Sunday afternoon, with stronger gusts possible. Forecasters say downed trees and power lines are possible.

In the mountains, a winter weather advisory will be in effect for elevations of 5,500 or more.
