Current La Mesa Temps 'Average' vs. Those in Midwest

Observed conditions for Monday, July 18, 2011, from La Mesa Mesonet station. Forecast data from National Weather Service.

An upper-level ridge of high pressure sits firmly above the Midwest, compressing and heating ambient air to dangerous levels even without including the effect of humidity. That air mass is not expected to continue east until late week. Locally, conditions will remain at or slightly above average for July and to be very tolerable relative to elsewhere in the nation this week.
