Saturday’s full phase brings our moon closer to Earth than anytime within the past 18 years. Our single celestial satellite will appear (to the discernible few) 14 percent larger and 30 percent brighter than a normal full phase, hence assigning it supermoon status. Saturday’s moon rising begins at 7:23 p.m. PDT. Whether La Mesans will be able to view it at all depends on forthcoming changing weather conditions this weekend, including rain.
