Calling all Campers! Summer Offerings Include Harry Potter, Star Wars Themes

While school-age children look forward to summer from the second day of school on, parents are usually not as enthusiastic about the prospect of unsupervised minors running amok for two-plus months.  Instead of shipping them off to some hapless relative or pay out the nose for extended babysitting, try these local day camps and summer camps, which will entertain, educate and inspire your children while keeping them professionally supervised.

• City of La Mesa Day Camp

Serving a variety of interests, the city’s day camps will include activities revolving around art, theater, sports, engineering, science and more.  Registration is open now.

• CYT Camp

Broadway babies are invited to learn the performing arts at the CYT’s summer camps.   The La Mesa-area location (Del Cerro Baptist Church or Lewis Middle School) will offer the “Pirates and Princesses” and “Toon Town” programs for ages 5-12. Registration is open now.

• Kroc Center Day Camp

Whether your child is into sports, adventure, arts and crafts or spiritual discovery, the Kroc Center is offering several choices for summer fun.  Registration is open now.

• SDSU Teen CAMPX

Teens looking to spruce up their college applications while having fun this summer will have the opportunity to try out game design software, learn to create video from experts in a real TV production studio, or stage their own courtroom drama at the San Diego Superior Court.  Registration is open now.

• YMCA Day Camp

The Davis Family YMCA will offer several day camps for your child to choose from, including golf, swim, equestrian and even a Harry Potter or Star Wars camp.  Registration opens March 12 for members.
