And the Nominees Are: Vote for Takeout in East County

As part of Patch's Readers' Choice 2012, we asked for your nominations for the Best Takeout in La Mesa, Lemon Grove and Santee. Now's your chance to vote.

Admit it. You don't always cook dinner for the family. Sometimes you run out to pick up Mexican or Thai food for dinner with friends on a Friday night or pizza or subs for the offices during lunch.

Though Patch readers only told us one of your favorites from East County during the nomination period, you can vote for others by mentioning them in the comments section — to help us determine the local favorite.

The deadline to vote is Friday, Aug. 17. Votes for "other" must be accompanied by a specification in the comments section in order to count. Here are the nominations:

(Santee)

OOh thanks for the info on Elsa's. We'll try that soon. Not enough falafel places around town.

We used to go there weekly until we got something in our schwerma that tasted and had the same consistency of beef liver. OMG gross out! When we asked about it, we got the "no speaka da English" bit. We're done there.

It was the first of its kind to supply full daily news broadcasts. The company's 24-hour coverageRead More became an immediate success and helped to launch their company from a mainly US-based platform to a world-wide sensation. It was also the first company in the US to firmly provide news coverage.Being one of the most popular sources for news in all of US history. has now gone online, and is one of the top news sites on the internet, available to subscribers world wide instantly through a web browser. While most of these organizations still report quality news, the internet has spawned a number of sites that comment more than report current news. Other sites have emerged to consolidate the top news. People should do some research before relying too much on a single service.

I heard that the landlord is using that property as a loss and does not care about renters. LooksRead More to me like it could be true. I also heard that a group from Mt Helix is trying to clean up Casa De Oro. Does anyone know for sure?
