1972: Boy Scouts Celebrate Anniversary, Home Ec Students Dish It Up

Boy Scout troops in Spring Valley and Lemon Grove did service projects to celebrate the scouts' 62nd anniversary.

In the "you just don't see that these days" category, home economic students at Monte Vista High School prepared a variety of meals as part of their senior luncheon.

Almost 70 girls participated in the luncheon, which they prepared and served to their invited guests, working with a limited budget. The home economics students prepared themed lunches: Italian, Oriental, Danish, Mexican, and Polynesian.

The most difficult part, said their teacher, was having everything ready at the same time.

Meanwhile, 1972 was the 62nd anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America, and troops in Spring Valley and Lemon Grove celebrated by participating in service projects all over the region, including car washes and rummage sales.
