100 Still Without Power After Wednesday Night Outage

SDG&E reported 98 customers without electricity, as of Thursday morning, in areas of Rancho San Diego, Casa de Oro, Jamacha, Jamul, Indian Springs, La Presa and Spring Valley due to a problem with underground equipment

Crews were working to restore power to some 100 East County residents who remained without service today, according to San Diego Gas and Electric.

The utility reported 98 customers without electricity in areas of Rancho San Diego, Casa de Oro, Jamacha, Jamul, Indian Springs, La Presa and Spring Valley due to a problem with underground equipment, according to the utility's website. The outage was reported at 6:52 p.m. Wednesday.

Power was also out to some traffic signals in Rancho San Diego, the California Highway Patrol reported. The CHP advised drivers to stop in all directions at the affected intersections and proceed only when safe.

Power was initially knocked out to nearly 2,000 customers, with service restored to all but about 100 by 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to the SDG&E outage map.

The utility estimated power would be restored to all customers by about 9:30 a.m., up from its original 8 a.m. estimation.
