FREE Community BBQ at Collier Park

Enjoy picnic activities, rediscover yourself and reconnect with your community. Meet La Mesa Historian, James Newland as he gives a talk about Collier Park.

Collier Park is a wonderful place.  My family has had several weddings there, but lately it seems to be under used. In an effort to bring family fun to our neighborhood park we are inviting the entire community for FREE food!

Join your neighbors in a fun picnic BBQ at Collier Park on Saturday, November 17 from 11am-2pm.

Games and crafts begin at 11.

Music by Christian Musicians Alex Cook and Ben Vaughn.

12 noon La Mesa Historian, James Newland will give a talk about Collier Park

Food will be served 11-12:30.

A motivational speaker, Tom McElroy, C.S. will help us rediscover ourselves and reconnect with our community at 1pm.

Hosted by the La Mesa Village Christian Science Reading Room and Church.

Thanks to everyone for a wonderful day in the park. Although rain was forecasted on Saturday - we didn't have it and that made for a fun day. Thank you to Helix High School students for helping set up, tear down, and getting the games going. Volleyball, croquet, horseshoes, frisbees and soccer brought family fun to the neighborhood park. Thanks to the Daubach family for their expertise in BBQing for the neighborhood, even having veggie burgers! La Mesa Historian, James Newland share such interesting history about Collier Park and the surrounding area. Alex Cook (who happens to look just like Dexter -Showtime Sunday nights), and Ben Vaughn provided music and Tom McElroy gave us a lot to think abouts in his inspiring talk. It was a great first event in the park and might well become a regular event to look forward to.
