In April, the man who speaks for you in the House of Representatives, Mr. Duncan Hunter, voted with 234 other Republicans and 6 Democrats to end the free and open Internet.
House Joint Resolution 37 to disapprove the FCC rule that keeps Internet neutrality and assure free access to the Internet for all citizens passed thanks to our representative. This is another sellout of his constituents, and major victory for corporate America and BIG Telecoms.
The extremist Republicans (note that 2 Republicans still voted for the people over the big money) want you to pay for varying Internet quality and speed — over and above what you pay now.
177 Democrats and 2 Republicans voted to keep the Internet free.
The Senate takes up the resolution this week. Should the Republican plan pass, the Congress would NOT be allowed to revisit the issue. The president has vowed to veto any bill that seeks to end the open Internet.
I don't care if you hate Obama. If you vote for Romney or Cain and Duncan Hunter in the next election, you are voting for the people dedicated to ending your free access to the internet. Put aside your personal dislikes and vote for your own and your children's interests. I would never allow pay-to-play Internet.
