Sombrero Chipotle Chicken Gets Better With Each Bite

This week's edition of the Burrito Blotter takes me back to Sombrero's.

I love chipotle peppers. They are one of the distinctively unique flavors that exist in the culinary world. Smokey meets spicy in a fiesta on the taste buds. So when I saw that specifically has a burrito called the Chipotle Chicken on the menu ($4.29), I had to try it for .

As always, I'll break it down, ingredient by ingredient.

Tortilla
There was a lot of tortilla to get through in this burrito. Given the nature of the hot, juicy filling, overstuffing the burrito could lead to a broken tortilla, it makes sense. However, the edges of the tortilla was pretty much all that: tortilla. And no one is a fan of straight carbs in this day and age. Am I right?

Chipotle Chicken
The chicken in this burrito is shredded. Always a plus. Love shredded chicken. Add to that the fact that it's smothered in a sweet, smoky, spicy chipotle sauce, and it really is a quality filling. However, it is piping hot after it first comes out. Bite carefully. There is lots of flavor in the sauce as well.

Rice
The only downfall in this burrito was the rice. It was overcooked, and a little mushy. Nothing else really needs to be said. Not a huge issue with it, but it could have been a little firmer.

Jack Cheese
There was a large abundance of salty jack cheese in the burrito that was very well melted. I think any kind of melted cheese in this could have been nice, but the jack was flavorful without being overpowering, really letting the chipotle chicken really shine.

Overall
This burrito hits all the marks overall. Again, there was a little too much tortilla, but since any more filling could have caused a break through. It also comes with a little bit of a surprise. The first bite is very chock full of sauce. But as you eat the burrito, the saucy goodness kind of runs down to the bottom. So some of the middle is devoid of sauce, but near the bottom third, all of the sauce that has collected makes the last bites incredibly flavorful. It just continued to get better, and better, and better.
