Only 61 Customers Left Without Power in Areas Near North La Mesa

Underground electrical system is seen as fault, and power restoration is now expected at 5 a.m. Friday.

San Diego Gas & Electric Co. says  61 customers still lack power after an outage hit 886 homes in portions of the Fletcher Hills, El Cajon, Lake Murray, Mission Gorge and Sycamore Canyon areas.

The outage began about 4:30 p.m. Thursday and affected traffic signals in the Navajo Road area near state Route 125 and Fletcher Parkway, blocks away from La Mesa's northern city limit. Its cause is a suspected problem in the underground electrical system, reported SDG&E's website.

Restoration of service is expected about 5 a.m. Friday, the power company reported.
