Lulu's Mom Wants to Help You Protect Your Pet

Reni Williams (aka Lulu's Mom) bakes all natural dog biscuits by hand, for a more healthy alternative.

Looking at photos of her pets – dogs Lulu and Paco, and her cat Elsie the Clown – it's easy to see where Reni Williams get her inspiration from.

Since 2009, since she founded "Lulu's Mom Pet Products," she has been helping provide an alternative form of dog biscuits and chew toys for people's precious pets.

The idea formed, as they often do, out of necessity.

"I was doing a 60-mile walk for breast cancer," Williams said, "and I couldn't find anything I wanted to give my dog. So I decided then and there that I would make them. Trademarket it, got the licenses, etc. and that's that."

Lulu's Mom provides healthy options in dog biscuits, all of which she bakes by hand: a wheat-free peanut butter, a yam and applesauce grain-free option, and a gluten-free cranberry and pumpkin.

The dog biscuits packages are priced between $5-7.

Lulu's Mom also offers "Sam's Yams" products, which are dehydrated yams that serve as chew toys ($6.75) , and are a safer, healthier option than rawhide, which Williams said is more difficult for dogs to digest.

In addition, she shells cat treats for $5, and a blueberry facial for dogs and cats, which doesn't require any rinsing.

Lulu's Mom participates in other farmers markets, including Santee, and Mt. Carmel. More information can be found her website, as can ingredients for dog and cat food, and a list of leash-free dog parks.
