Grossmont Post Office Hours Are About to Be Cut Short

The United States Postal Service recently announced that La Mesa's post office at Grossmont Center (5500 Grossmont Center Dr.) is one of seven in the county that will soon be shrinking their hours of operation.

Starting June 28, the new hours of public operation for the Grossmont location will be Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.- open one hour less each day than the current hours.

According to the Post Office, this change is part of an effort to reduce costs while maintaining customer service and is a reaction to customer needs.

"These changes were approved after careful analysis of customer traffic patterns and transaction history," a Post Office press release said.

"A generation ago customers had no choice but to visit a Post Office to buy stamps or ship a package. "

"But today it’s not just about brick-and-mortar Post Offices as the Postal Service moves online and into retail outlets, grocery stores, office supply chains and pharmacies."

According to the Postal Service, 40 percent of their retail revenue comes from outside post offices.
