Brian Malarkey, the celebrity chef who launched his newest eatery in La Mesa in early 2012, will appear on NBC's "Today" show on Friday morning.
Gingham is the latest in a growing chain of San Diego eateries operated by Malarkey, including Searsucker in downtown San Diego and Burlap in Del Mar. in February that "the town has welcomed [the restaurant] with open arms."
Gingham is in the same space where popular restaurant and wine bar Gio's was once located, before it closed last year.
This is not the first time that Malarkey, who gained fame as a chef as a finalist in Season 3 of Bravo's reality show "Top Chef," has been on "Today." On Labor Day last year, Malarkey did a demonstration on what to grill up to help celebrate the holiday.
The restaurant today Tweeted a picture of Malarkey preparing for his segment.
