New Consumer Website Unveiled by San Diego County Realtor Associations

Unbiased, timely and comprehensive data promised by site to be updated every 10 minutes.

San Diego’s four Realtors associations and Sandicor unveiled a new customer website last week after weeks of discussions and input from members of the four San Diego County boards of Realtors. See it here.

Updated every 10 minutes, it has been developed around a powerful and flexible search engine. This website facilitates a consumer’s search for San Diego County real estate information and properties.  It provides consumers unbiased, timely and comprehensive data.

In addition, it will provide valuable community data, open-house searches and links to helpful information such as population statistics, school systems and government resources.

MLS is the source for real estate information provided by and for the real estate professionals in San Diego County and therefore is the most reliable website for all consumers of real estate information.

Red Alert on Carbon Monoxide Alarms in Homes

The California law requiring carbon monoxide alarms that went into effect on July 1, of 2011, is still frequently misunderstood.  It is a California state law, not a federal law.  As usual, California is the first and, at this time, the only state to enact it.  Others will follow as we know from past experience.

This law requires the device be placed in “all existing single-family dwelling units intended for human occupancy on or before July 2011 and for all other existing units on or before January 1, 2013.”

An all-electric home is excluded, but any home having a fossil-fuel-burning heater or appliance, fireplace or an attached garage must be in compliance.

The only mention I can find on where it should be placed is that it should be “installed in a manner consistent with building standards applicable to new construction for the relevant type of occupancy or the manufacture’s instruction.”

If unsure, you should call your homeowners insurance company.

The Week in La Mesa Real Estate

As expected, real estate activity slowed the week before Christmas.  Eleven homes came on the market—eight single-family homes and three condos went into escrow, and 11 families had a new home just in time for the Holidays.

My Pick of the Week is 9771 Grosalia Ave. 91941 was listed by David Hastings of Coldwell Banker.  A three-bedroom, two-bath home with 2,624 square feet of living space.  A stone house with two fireplaces on a .74-acre lot, it is truly a unique property.

The second home I particularly like is 6290 Primrose Ave. in north La Mesa.  Listed by Gregg Phillipson of Keller Williams, it is a traditional sale with great upgrades.  A big house just right for a family, it has 4 four bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths and 2,623 square feet of living space.
