Benjamin Moore Named Chef at BO-beau kitchen + garden

Moore comes to BO-beau kitchen + garden after acting as Executive Chef for restaurants at Barona Casino. The restaurant is tentatively scheduled to open in the first weeks of October.

Benjamin Moore has been named chef at BO-beau kitchen + garden, a new restaurant in a corner lot in the 8300 block of La Mesa Boulevard, the Cohn Restaurant Group announced Friday.

The restaurant at 8384 La Mesa Blvd. is scheduled to open in the first weeks of October, according to Cohn Restaurant Group Publicist Cindy Nixon. The La Mesa restaurant will be the second BO-beau after an Ocean Beach location.

BO-beau Kitchen + Garden is the latest restaurant to occupy the corner property. Gio Bistro & Wine Bar used to occupy the space, then Gingam Spot, which closed in May.

Moore started in the restaurant industry at 15 years old at the Coronado Boathouse where he eventually worked his way up to kitchen manager.

In the past Moore worked as the Executive Chef at Parallel 33, attended Le Cordon Bleu Institute in Pasadena and in the past four years has been the Chef de Cuisine at restaurants at Barona Casino.

"I'm humbled that I get to serve as the chef of a restaurant that shares a name with such a successful endeavor in Ocean Beach," Moore said in the statement. "At the same time, I'm energized by the fact that we're opening a new restaurant that will allow me to try out new menu items and concepts all while being a part of the La Mesa community."
