Baby, Let’s Travel! Librarian Can Identify with Globetrotter Joe Tash

Freelance writer talks about his family's around-the-world trip at the La Mesa Library—and Jessie Goodwin opens up about road-tripping with Miles.

How old do kids have to be before you’ll consider car travel with them? For brave La Mesa librarian Jessie Goodwin, the answer is 3 months.

“We recently took my new baby on a road trip to visit family in Montana,” Goodwin said of the 10-day adventure through Las Vegas and then Ogden, UT. “We had family in each stop along Interstate 15.”

She says baby Miles was a little trouper, though his sleep pattern left something to be desired.

“[He] slept all day in the car and stayed awake all night,” Goodwin said before adding: “I would definitely do it again because it was actually a lot of fun.”

If that’s the case, she may want to consult freelance writer Joe Tash for pointers when he comes to the to discuss his new book Dear Guests, Beware of Wild Monkeys—a documentation of his family’s nine-month world circumnavigation in 2005.
