That Screeching Sound You're Hearing Is The Trifecta Slowdown
Stormy Weather Sees A 48 Percent Drop In New Construction
Like the temperatures across San Diego County, construction activity in The Trifecta has plummeted for the week of October 31 through November 4.
Last week's impressive showing for building permits was washed away by this week's numbers. A total of just 28 permits, versus 54 for the previous week, were seen. This represents a 48 percent decrease in activity.
And that's not all.

Not only did the aggregate number of permits plummet, but the type and quality of permits suffered as well; no new homes, only two residential remodeling projects (down from 6 last week), and only a solitary solar energy start (versus 6 the week before).
Naturally, we hate to have to use our black paintbrush, but we simply paint what we see. And this week, the images were dark.

Notable among the projects for the reporting period were:
- Owners at 7731 Homewood Place took the solar plunge this week with a 30-panel, 6.8 kW system.
- The Rancho Pointe Apartments at 3536 Sweetwater Springs Boulevard are slated to repair fire damage at three of their units.
- Owners at 5825 Yorkshire Avenue and 8951 Moisan Way are remodeling their homes.
- La Mesa's Palm Springs Liquor is set to build an addition and remodel their store.
- Chins Fine Food, the Thai Dragon Restaurant, and Outback Steakhouse are going to install new fire-suppression equipment in their respective kitchens.
