Jury Convicts La Mesa Man in Lemon Grove Cabbie's Shooting Death

Jalaludin Hamrah died in 2011 after being shot in his cab on Main Street. His killer will be sentenced next month.

Jurors have found Demetrius Sissac guilty of second-degree murder in the 2011 killing of a cab driver in Lemon Grove.

Closing arguments ended Wednesday and case went to the jury at the El Cajon Courthouse before the verdict came down late Friday morning.

Sissac, of La Mesa, was accused of shooting Jalaludin Hamrah, 39, an immigrant from Afghanistan. Authorities found Hamrah suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper chest after his taxi crashed in the 3400 block of Main Street on Oct. 30, 2011.

Sissac, 21, was on probation for auto theft at the time of his arrest, three days after the shooting. He will be sentenced in August.
