Young Actors' Theatre to Host Fundraiser Gala
The reception, auction and dinner will take place at the Bahia Resort Hotel this Saturday.
If your weekend plans consist of dinner and a show, why not also help support the arts?
The will hold its annual “Imagine” fundraiser gala at the Bahia Resort Hotel Grand Ballroom in San Diego this Saturday. Funds raised at the event will benefit the theater, which produces five musicals and offers a variety of dance, drama and voice classes for young actors each year.
“We’re always trying to raise funds to keep our programs going, particularly for those students that don’t have the funds to be able to support themselves in the program,” said Young Actors' Theatre Executive Director Jean Isaac.

Located in Spring Valley, Young Actors' Theatre helps youth build confidence and public speaking skills, Isaac said.
“It brings them out of their shell and takes a lot of their shyness away,” she said. “Those kids that are looking for a place to belong—not everybody is in sports—they need a niche, a place they can call their home, that’s something they are comfortable doing. The theater provides that for them.”

The theater also provides the community with “wonderful family entertainment,” Isaac added. Gala attendees will have an opportunity to witness the theater’s work. Actors will present highlights from last season and preview the upcoming season.
In addition to the performances, there will be live and silent auctions, as well as opportunity drawings. Items up for auction range from wine tastings to a trip to Africa. David Davis of KUSI News will be the celebrity guest emcee for the evening.
Isaac said she is excited to showcase the theater’s young actors to the community.
“That’s the highlight,” she said. “I’m so proud of these kids. I love to see them perform.”
The Bahia Resort Hotel is located at 998 West Mission Bay Drive in San Diego.
The silent auction and reception begin at 6 p.m. and the dinner begins at 7 p.m. Chicken and vegetarian meals are available. Tickets cost $50.
