Saturday's scenery outside the convention center and at the nearby Gaslamp Quarter was full of wild faces and costumes.

Jason Broman of Los Angeles proved a good sport at Comic-Con, despite the theological consequences.

He was among dozens of sign-carriers (“Jesus BORE our sins”) on sidewalks and street corners preaching the Gospel and inviting convention-goers to repent.

But standing next to him across the street from the San Diego Convention Center was a Star Wars-dressed Chris Bang, also of Los Angeles, bearing the sign: “Turn to the Dark Side — Vader 3:16.”

Said Broman: “I have nothing against it.”

In fact, dozens of amateur photographers couldn’t resist the juxtaposition.

Saturday’s scenery outside the center and at the nearby Gaslamp Quarter was full of photo ops, and cameras of every ilk were snapping furiously. Enjoy the snapshot of Comic-Con through the lens of La Mesa free-lancer Chris Stone.
